Working at the intersection of painting and cinema, Berthold Bock tells the story of the reclusive art historian Colonna. After a storm, Colonna discovers a series of enigmatic landscape paintings washed ashore, together with a mysterious shipwrecked woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to his late wife. Yet her face and clothing seem to belong to the nineteenth century. As reality gradually gives way to memory and imagination, the boundaries between the visible world and the realm beyond begin to dissolve.
